The subcompact hatchback (with a three- or five-door body) Skoda Citigo, which is the most compact model of the Czech automaker, was first presented to the world public in October 2011, but its official premiere took place only in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show.

In July 2016, the subcompact underwent modernization "according to an abbreviated program" (as a result of which it received slight modifications to the exterior and new equipment), and already in February 2017 it was updated for the second time - the exterior was more significantly transformed and the previously unavailable options were added ...

The appearance of the Skoda Citigo is devoid of defiant elements, however, excessive modesty is not inherent in it - in general, the hatchback looks cute, proportional and modern, regardless of the number of doors.

Neat lighting technology, faceted features of the hood, radiator grille and bumpers, expressive sidewalls and embossed outlines of the wheel arches - the outside of the car is good, although far from original.

Citigo is a three- or five-door A-class hatchback according to the European classification and has the following dimensions: length - 3560 ~ 3563 mm, width - 1645 ~ 1650 mm, height - 1478 ~ 1480 mm. The center distance of the car is 2420 mm, and its clearance under the bottom reaches 136 ~ 144 mm.

Inside, the Skoda Citigo has quite an "adult" interior - a three-spoke steering wheel of optimal dimensions, a laconic instrument cluster with a large speedometer, a removable 5-inch screen for an entertainment and information complex and a very nice center console decorated with three climate controllers and an audio system unit.

The interior of the Czech small car is decorated mainly with budget materials, but it is cut with sufficient quality.

"Citigo" is a four-seater car, and the back sofa is more or less spacious even for two adult riders (however, on three-door versions, access to the second row is hampered by a narrow opening). The front seats have a minimum of adjustments, but a comfortable profile with integrated head restraints.

For its class, the Skoda Citigo demonstrates a roomy trunk - narrow and deep. Its volume (depending on the number of doors) in the standard form is from 234 to 251 liters, and with a folded "gallery" - from 939 to 959 liters. The “Czech's” underground is occupied by a small-sized “spare wheel” and a set of tools.

Specifications. Under the hood of the city car is a 1.0-liter (999 cubic centimeters) all-aluminum three-cylinder AE211 series engine with multi-point fuel delivery, 12 valves, individual ignition coils and phase shifters at the intake, which is offered in two power levels:

  • At base it generates 60 horsepower at 5000-6000 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 3000-4300 rpm.
  • The more powerful version is armed with 75 "horses" at 6200 rpm and 95 Nm of peak potential at 3000-4300 rpm.

By default, the power unit is installed together with a 5-speed "mechanics" and driving front wheels, but as an option it relies on a 5-band "robot" with one clutch.

Depending on the modification, the car accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h after 13.2-15.3 seconds, accelerates to 160-171 km / h and “digests” about 4.3-4.7 liters of fuel for each mixed “hundred”.

The Skoda Citigo is based on Volkswagen's NSF front-wheel drive architecture with McPherson-type independent suspension at the front and a semi-independent system with an elastic cross member at the rear, and its body is three-quarters of high-strength steel grades (of which 8% are hot-formed).

The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering complex, in which an electromechanical control amplifier is integrated. Ventilated brake discs are placed on the front wheels of the city car, and drum mechanisms on the rear wheels.

Options and prices. In the Czech Republic, the restyled Citigo is sold at a price of 197,900 kroons (~ 482 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate), but the hatchback is not officially delivered to the Russian market.
In the "base" the car boasts: four airbags, ABS, ESP, two power windows, power steering, 14-inch steel wheels, an on-board computer, audio preparation and some other equipment.

It should be noted that the management of Škoda Auto does not see any “prospects” for this model and “its days are already numbered” - in the foreseeable future it will leave the assembly line without acquiring a successor (this was announced in June 2017 by the head of the company's global sales department - Peter Soltz).
