The Honda HR-V is a front- or all-wheel drive SUV of a subcompact class, the main target audience of which is young people who prefer an active lifestyle and in a car, not only looks are important for them, but also its capabilities (their combination) ...

The second incarnation of the car celebrated its official debut in April 2014 at the New York Auto Show, albeit only as a concept car, while its production model flaunted in front of the general public in November of the same year on the stage of the Los Angeles Motor show. At the same time, in its homeland, the five-door was presented back in the fall of 2013 at a bride show in Tokyo - under the name "Vezel".

Outside, the second generation Honda HR-V is a cute crossover, which is elegantly contoured by a clean and neat body line that looks great from a rounded "nose" to a lean stern.

Not devoid of aggression front end with beautiful headlights, "family" radiator grille and embossed bumper, energetic silhouette with a dropping roof, integrated into the body pillars of the rear door handles and expressive "folds" on the sidewalls, stylish rear with large fang-shaped lights and a neat bumper - no doubt, this car will appeal to those who shy away from overly bold and bright design solutions.

With its dimensions, the crossover fully and completely corresponds to the concepts of a subcompact class: it is 4295 mm long, 1773 mm wide, and 1605 mm high. The wheelbase of the five-door is 2610 mm, and its ground clearance fits into 185 mm.

In the "stowed" form, the machine weighs from 1241 to 1389 kg, depending on the version.

Inside the "second" Honda HR-V, the theme of restrained elegance continues, but at the same time the interior looks beautiful, interesting and modern. The asymmetrical center console is topped by a color screen of the infotainment and information system, below which is a stylish “microclimate” unit with touch control. At the driver's workplace there is a lean multifunctional steering wheel with a three-spoke design and an elegant instrument cluster with two analog dials and a color display of the on-board computer in the right "round".

In the interior of the crossover, albeit inexpensive, but exceptionally high-quality materials are used - pliable plastics, pleasant fabric or good-quality leather.

The front seats of the Honda HR-V are comfortable seats with unobtrusive lateral bolsters, long adjustment intervals and a heating system. On the second row there is a comfortable three-seater sofa and a substantial amount of free space in all directions.

With a five-seater layout, up to 470 liters of luggage can fit into the trunk of the SUV. "Gallery" is folded in two unequal sections into an almost flat area, due to which the useful volume of the "hold" increases more than three times - up to 1533 liters. In the "cellar" under the raised floor there is a small-sized spare wheel and a set of tools.

In the countries of the Old World, the second generation Honda HR-V is offered with two power units to choose from:

  • The first is a gasoline four-cylinder "aspirated" i-VTEC with a working volume of 1.5 liters with direct fuel supply, variable gas distribution phases and 16 valves, which produces 130 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 155 N • m of available torque at 4600 rpm minute.
  • The second is a 1.6-liter diesel "four" i-DTEC with a turbocharger, 16-valve timing and direct power function, developing 120 hp. at 4000 rpm and 300 N • m rotational potential at 2000 rpm.

Both motors are equipped with 6-speed "mechanics" and front-wheel drive, and the "senior" - also with a stepless variator.

To the first "hundred", the crossover accelerates after 10.1-11.2 seconds, and its "maximum speed" varies from 187 to 192 km / depending on the version.

Gasoline cars "digest" 5.2-5.6 liters of fuel in mixed conditions, and diesel cars - 4 liters.

In other markets, the second incarnation of the Honda HR-V is also available with a 1.8-liter unit that develops 141 horsepower and 173 Nm of peak thrust. It is optionally combined with an all-wheel drive system, in which a multi-plate clutch is responsible for supplying power to the rear wheels.

The crossover is based on a global compact platform, on which the five-door "Jazz / Fit" is also based, with a transverse arrangement of the power unit. In the structure of the car body, there is a widespread use of high-strength steel grades.

On the front axle of the "second" Honda HR-V, an independent McPherson-type architecture is used, and on the rear axle, a semi-independent arrangement with an elastic cross member (in each case with hydraulic shock absorbers and lateral stabilizers).

In the "base" SUV has a rack and pinion steering complex with electric power steering and disc brakes "in a circle" (on the front axle - ventilated) with a bunch of electronic assistants.

In the Russian market, the second generation Honda HR-V is not officially sold, but in the countries of the Old World (to be more precise, in Germany) it can be purchased in the Comfort, Elegance and Executive trim levels at a price of 20 690 euros (~ 1.44 million rubles at the established rate).
Nominally, the five-door "flaunts": front and side airbags, VSA, ABS, EBD, help function when starting up the hill, light sensor, "cruise", outside mirrors with heating and electrically adjustable, power windows for all doors, heated front seats, speakers, air conditioning, 16-inch wheel disks and other equipment.
