Volkswagen Nivus is a front-wheel drive five-door crossover of a subcompact class, which combines the style of a cross-coupe, compact dimensions and fairly progressive equipment, especially given its relatively "budget positioning" ... It is aimed at a wide target audience, regardless of gender and age ...

The official presentation of the Volkswagen Nivus, developed by the Brazilian division of the German automaker and focused primarily on the South American market (but still having an "international" status), took place at the end of May 2020 at a special event in Brazil.

Externally, Volkswagen Nivus looks really beautiful, bright, dynamic, stylish and harmonious, and purely visually, it does not demonstrate its "budget" positioning, but on the contrary - it is perceived as a more expensive product than it really is.

It is a subcompact SUV with corresponding external dimensions: it is 4266 mm long, 1493 mm high and 1757 mm wide. The vehicle has a wheelbase of 2566 mm, and its ground clearance does not exceed 170 mm.

Interior

The Volkswagen Nivus salon is tailored according to modern patterns - a stylish three-spoke multi-steering wheel, slightly flattened at the bottom, a virtual instrument cluster with a 10-inch display and a laconic center console with an 8-inch touchscreen of the media system and an extremely understandable climate unit.

The interior of the crossover has a five-seater layout, and not only front but also rear riders will feel more or less at ease here, and its luggage compartment in its normal state can hold up to 415 liters of luggage (in addition, the rear sofa folds in two parts).

Specifications

The Volkswagen Nivus is powered by a 1.0-liter in-line three-cylinder TSI engine with a turbocharger, direct injection, 12-valve timing and variable valve timing, which generates 116 horsepower on gasoline and 128 hp. on ethanol (torque in both cases - 200 Nm).

The motor is combined exclusively with a 6-speed hydromechanical "automatic", which directs all the power reserve to the front axle (all-wheel drive transmissions are not provided here), equipped with an electronic imitation of the XDS differential lock.

Design features

"Nivus" is based on a modular platform MQB-A0 and has a monocoque body, a wide part of which consists of high-strength steel types. At the front, the car is equipped with independent suspension with McPherson struts, and at the rear - with a semi-independent torsion beam ("in a circle" - with anti-roll bars). The crossover is equipped with electric power assisted rack and pinion steering, and all wheels are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated on the front axle).

Options and prices

In Brazil, the Volkswagen Nivus in the basic configuration is offered at a price of 79,990 reais (~ 1.06 million rubles), while the “top-end” version can be bought for 97,990 reais (~ 1.3 million rubles). It is worth noting that in 2012 SUVs may reach European markets.

In the "state" the car has: six airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, ABS, ESP, air conditioning, power windows for all doors, an electronic imitation of the front differential lock, an audio system and a number of other modern options.
